arranging our environment to support our goals, our passions, and our happiness!

We’ve completely rearranged our downstairs to support our goals, our passions, and our happiness! Motivation + Environment → Action, don’t you know. (; There are three awesome things about the new arrangement:

  1. More sitting space! The downstairs now feels bigger and more open, and we now have more space for gaming, socializing, Wii Night, and… *drum roll*… Usual Error workshops!
  2. Easy exercise! My metal DDR pad is permanently set up in a corner, with the USB cable right next to a perfect place to set my laptop! And a fan permanently pointed right at my head! (: And Kyeli’s Gazelle is right there too!
  3. Organizational awesomeness! We labeled all the apartments in our apartment complex, got rid of some books and relocated an entire bookshelf to Dru’s room, and reorganized a bunch of our bins and shelves.

Pictures past the link!

When you come in the front door and turn about 45° to the left, here’s what you see. Close to you on the left is our new big comfy chair. There’s a little computer nook that you can hardly see, then there’s the tan couch, with Dru and me sitting on it. (Thanks, Kyeli, for taking these pictures!) Behind the couch is a shelf we mounted to the wall to make best use of our angled space. We put the printer and Kyeli’s laptop on the shelf, and there’s a lamp offscreen to the left. Between the couches is a little nook, then to the right is the purple couch, with Dru’s cat Katy bathing on it.

Here’s the big comfy chair without the bag in it! (:

Here’s the computer nook. We didn’t want to set up a desk for our desktop, so we set up a nook for it instead. We can easily move the monitor to the coffee table if we want to play something together, or we can use the S-video cable to display it on the TV.

Here’s Dru’s nook. There are some useful bins behind it, and a little table where Dru can sit on his bean bag and set his laptop on the end table.

Here’s the far end. You can see the little nook for the exercise equipment between the indigo couch and the bookshelf.

Here’s the exercise nook! Just pull the Gazelle off the DDR pad, set my laptop on the indigo couch, plug it in, and Stepmania is good to go! It looks really crowded but there’s actually plenty of room! I can even do spins without bumping into anything! (:

Kyeli hung up Marty’s awesome Order & Chaos Faeries, we labeled all the little apartments in our apartment complex, and the fan is perfectly positioned to cool me down when I play Stepmania!

I’m so happy with our home. Kyeli and I are so organizationally and domestically compatible. (:

How fun! I have that exact same chair! I like the idea of “apartments” around the house too. Cool!
