Thanks for sharing Victoria. That's something I hadn't thought about: asking myself what I am needing from the situation. Very cool way to look at things. :)

"Judgment and persecution occurs when your mind needs to prove that it is 'right'."

That is so true. Judging others for not being like us is basically a warped form of needing validation that the way we're living (or eating, or whatever) is acceptable.

When I feel like I'm getting into someone else's "space," it's not always easy, but I try to ask myself what am *I* needing in the situation. From that place, it's easier to separate my own need from whatever the other person was doing that triggered me to begin with.

Great post, Nathalie!

Hey Henri! Glad you're enjoying the posts during the holiday season. ;) It has been pretty quiet.

Letting the situation solve itself is pretty cool too... though I can see that going sour if you're not careful (probably applies to certain things more than others obviously). Thanks for sharing another way of going about it!

Man, it's so quiet now during the holidays. No one is posting anything. I'm glad you gave me something to read!

(Go star trek!)

I've actually grown fond of being different. My friends are used to me having a different view on everything, although I have become so different that I am now moving to another country, but that's another story ;).

Loved the post and some good tips. To be honest I just let the situation solve itself. If someone feels uncomfortable with me then that's fine, but usually it works out great. As long as you're comfortable with yourself it seems to work.

Not saying I'm a master comfortablist by any means, just my observations. Time to get some sleep. Rock on, Nathalie!

Hey Hayden! I totally know what you mean... how you feel about the "weirdness" makes a big difference in how other people react. Very well said!

As a total Star Trek fan (live long and prosper, baby!) I know the feeling of boggling the minds of others. I find that acceptance often stems from how I feel about the "weird" thing that I love.

In effect, "disarming the judgment" often makes or breaks how openminded people will be with you.

Very insightful article, Nathalie!
